Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) opened the final 4 km section of the Circle Line, completing the orbital metro route by closing the gap between HarbourFront and Marina Bay stations. The extension adds three new underground stations—Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward Road—bringing the Circle Line into full operation.
With the completion of the final section, the Circle Line now extends 39 km and comprises 33 stations. The line includes 12 interchange stations, providing connections with all of Singapore’s existing metro lines: the North-South Line, East-West Line, North East Line, Downtown Line and Thomson-East Coast Line. The completed orbital corridor is expected to improve network connectivity and provide passengers with more direct travel options by reducing the need to transit through the city centre.
To accommodate the anticipated increase in passenger demand, LTA has procured 23 three-car, fully automated driverless trains from Alstom. The first batch of the new trains arrived in Singapore in March 2022 and has been progressively introduced into passenger service since April 2026 to support operations on the completed line.
