The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has opened the Simora Bridge and a 8-km two-lane two-way road to traffic in Northern Samar, Philippines. These are a key component of the congoing Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project in Eastern Visayas. This is one of the flagship projects under the government’s Build Build Build Program.

Work on the remaining 3 km section of the 11.6 km road along with two additional bridges is currently ongoing. Construction on the 31-metre Jangtud Bridge 1 is 66 per cent completed while the 69-metre Jangtud Bridge 2 is 40 per cent complete.

The PHP1.12 billion coastal road will start at the Simora Junction and link the pacific towns in Northern Samar including Laoang, Catubig, and Palapag.

The project has received funding from the Government of South Korea, through the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM), and will be implemented by the DPWH Unified Project Management Office (UPMO).
