The Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) has received the Green Spirit Award at the 27th Singapore Environmental Achievement Awards (SEAA) 2026 for its environmental sustainability initiatives. The award recognises SICC’s efforts to improve environmental performance across its three golf courses as it works towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.
SICC has reduced its carbon footprint by 4.9 per cent from its FY2023/2024 baseline of 8,516 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent, while Scope 2 emissions from purchased electricity declined by 6.9 per cent. The club has installed solar panels and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at its Island location to generate renewable energy, manage electricity demand and participate in the Energy Market Authority’s Demand Response Programme.
The club is also using soil-moisture data to optimise irrigation, replacing conventional course-maintenance equipment with electric alternatives and recovering fallen timber for use in course features. SICC is further supporting biodiversity by propagating native plant species, including Alstonia pneumatophora (Marsh Pulai), and sharing saplings with other golf clubs and NParks’ Native Plant Centre. SICC plans to expand electrification, renewable energy, resource efficiency and sustainable procurement as it progresses towards its 2030 carbon-neutrality target.
