Japan-based Shizen Energy Incorporated (Shizen), a renewables developer, and Alamport Incorporated has commenced construction of 4.2 MW of rooftop solar power arrays in Indonesia. Financing was granted under a programme for the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) of the Ministry of the Environment of Japan. The photovoltaic (PV) systems are being built at 13 locations by PT ATW Alam Hijau, a local subsidiary established by the Japanese firms and ATW Group — the local engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partner.

The 13 locations comprise two pharmaceutical factories belonging to PT Bintang Toedjoe, a subsidiary of the Kalbe Farma Group; nine vehicles dealer showrooms owned by PT Agung Automall and two timber factories part of PT Sumber Graha Sejahtera, Shinzen said. All the power produced by the PV arrays will be used on site.

The solar systems will come online between July 2021 and October 2021. They will generate a combined output of 6,151 MWh annually, which will reduce carbon emissions by 3,772 tonnes annually.
