The Governments of Thailand and China have launched the first direct cargo rail link from Nong Khai to Chongqing via Laos. The link is part of the New Land-Sea Corridor project by the government of  China. The project’s hub is Chongqing, China. The link will allow Thailand to export farm products to China. The link will need four days to cover all the destinations.

The railway link will connect Thailand, Laos, and China as a part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to connect Asia with Africa and Europe via land and maritime trade routes.
