SembWaste Private Limited, the waste management subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, has inaugurated the first solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in Singapore at its Tuas facility. With the potential to perform around 100 electric charging cycles each day, the Sembcorp Green EV Charging Hub will act as a central charging station for Sembcorp’s fleet of waste and recycling electric trucks. Apart from charging SembWaste’s trucks, Sembcorp will also extend the facility to other industrial vehicles for public usage.
The charging hub will be powered by a 472 kWp rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system. The Tuas depot will feature a smart energy management system that will allow it to digitally monitor its electric power use.
