SapuraOMV Upstream has signed a final investment decision (FID) with its partners for the development of the Jerun gas field in Sarawak, Malaysia. The Jerun gas field will be SapuraOMV’s largest operating project. It is expected to generate 500 MMscfd of gas once it commences operations in 2024. Customers in Bintulu, including the Petronas LNG complex, will purchase the gas generated by the field.

This is Sarawak’s third major upstream gas development project in East Malaysia. The others are the development and the start of production at the SK310 B15 gas field in 2017 and the completion of development of SK408 Phase 1 in 2019/2020. The total gross output from these fields is 575 MMscfd (96 kboed). When Jerun comes online, it will increase production by 500 MMscfd (83 kboed).
