Royal Dutch Shell has announced a gas discovery at the deep-water Marjoram-1 well in Malaysia. The well is located 180 km off the Malaysia coast in Block SK318. Earlier this year, Shell announced the Rosmari-1 gas discovery in the same block. Block SK318 is operated by Shell with an 85 per cent interest, with the remaining 15 per cent interest held by Petronas Carigali Sendirian Berhad.

SKE makes fifth and final gas discovery in its 2014 drilling campaign within the SK408 PSC

SapuraKencanca Petroleum Berhad’s unit SapuraKencana Energy (SKE) has made another gas discovery at Bakong-1, the fifth and final well in its 2014 drilling campaign within the SK408 production sharing contract (PSC) area, offshore Sarawak, Malaysia. Bakong-1 has a gross gas column in excess of 1,968 feet (600 metres) in the primary target reservoir located within Late Miocene Carbonates. Non-associated natural gas within the same Late Miocene Carbonate reservoirs was also discovered in the previous four wells, namely, Teja-1 (gross gas column of 718 feet or 219 metres), Gorek-1 (gross gas column of 770 feet or 235 metres), Legundi-1 (gross gas column of 456 feet or 139 metres), and Larak-1 (gross gas column of 1, 092 feet or 333 metres).
