The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has announced that upgradation works on Terminal T2 of Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi will require funding of more than VND4.98 trillion. Renovation works is expected to increase the airport’s annual capacity from 10 million to 15 million passengers.

The conclusions of a feasibility study report on the terminal expansion project was recently submitted by the ACV for verification. The feasibility study was jointly conducted by Japan Airport Consultants Incorporated and Vietnam National Construction Consultants Corporation. The upgradation works is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2022 and will be completed during the third quarter of 2024. Investment capital for the project will be funded by the ACV.

Terminal T2, was opened for commercial operations in January 2015 and has a passenger capacity of 10 million people per year between 2015 and 2020, with a capacity of 15 million passengers expected between 2020 and 2030. However, in 2019, the terminal serviced over 11.42 million passengers, far exceeding its capacity.
