PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) has received two awards at the Asian Water Awards 2026 for projects improving water management and sanitation in Indonesia. The company won Community-Based Water Project of the Year – Indonesia for its work in Sajen Village, Mojokerto, East Java, and Water Sanitation Initiative of the Year – Indonesia for a project in Konga Village, East Flores. In Sajen, the company partnered with Yayasan Bestari Inovasi Indonesia through its corporate social responsibility programme to address unreliable water supply through reinforced-concrete reservoirs, filtration systems and gravity-fed distribution pipelines. The project also included public handwashing facilities and bamboo planting around the spring catchment. Expanded household connections, lower water losses and electricity savings from reduced reliance on mechanical pumping were among the reported outcomes.

The Konga Village project provides water and sanitation infrastructure for communities displaced by eruptions of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki. The facilities include a borehole water supply, storage, off-grid solar power, public toilets, septic and absorption tanks, and ablution taps. The system provides an alternative to purchasing water and can also support irrigation on nearby farmland. The two projects address local water access and service challenges through community-level infrastructure, including renewable power for water supply where grid electricity is constrained.
