PT PLN (Persero) has launched the Tanamalala Solar Power Plant (PLTS) on Bembe Island in Selayar Regency, Indonesia. The plant, with a capacity of 176 kWp, aims to provide sustainable electricity to the community while reducing carbon emissions by 715 tons annually. This initiative will lead to a transition from reliance on a Diesel Power Plant (PLTD) to 24-hour electricity.

This project aligns with PLN’s mission to promote green energy solutions and enhance community welfare. Currently, 126 customers on the island are connected to the new solar power system, with plans to expand services further. The Tanamalala PLTS has increased the share of New Renewable Energy (EBT) in the Southern Sulawesi Electricity System (Sulbagsel) to 45.78 per cent, marking a significant step towards sustainable energy development.
