PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UAE-based TAQA to develop transmission grid interconnection and smart grids in Indonesia. The partners will accelerate the energy transition by developing transmission and interconnection networks and implementing smart grid technology. 

The aim is to develop effective and stable management of renewable energy (RE) distribution across the country. The grid will be developed at four corridors from Sumatra to Java, in Sulawesi, from Kalimantan to Java, and the corridor from NTT to Java.

Moreover, PLN is also developing smart grid technology including with the Global Power System Transformation Consortium (G-PST).
