The Government of Indonesia has inaugurated a USD108.70 million floating solar power plant by PLN Nusantara Power, a unit of Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) and UAE-based Masdar on the Cirata reservoir in West Java. The plant has a capacity of 192 MWp which can be expanded up to 1,000 MWp while the hydropower plant at the dam has an installed capacity of 1,008 MW.
As per the regulations permit, 20 per cent of the reservoir area can be occupied and currently, the plant has installed 13 arrays which occupy four per cent of the surface. Additionally, plans are underway with Mubadala for the next phase of the expansion.
