Philippines-based PLDT and its mobile arm, Smart Communications, have signed a $28.5 million partnership agreement with Huawei Technologies to upgrade the operator’s wireless service delivery platforms. The move is part of a PhP 50 billion expenditure programme for 2018 to improve both fixed and mobile network infrastructure. This will enable PLDT’s Smart Communications, Sun Cellular and TNT mobile brands to become more agile, efficient and resilient in developing and delivering an array of digital services. Under the 15-month agreement, the China-based manufacturer will upgrade Smart’s online charging platforms and electronic loading for prepaid subscribers.
