The city government of Hanoi has proposed five new metro lines spanning 176 km by 2045. These lines will be developed at an estimated investment of USD18 billion. The proposed lines are Line 1A spanning 29 km, Line 9 spanning 48 km, Line 10 spanning 12 km, Line 11 spanning 42 km and Line 12 spanning 45 km.
With the development of these new metro lines, the metro network will comprise 15 lines which will collectively span around 600 km and involve an investment of USD55 billion.
In addition, the city government has sent a proposal to fund the extension of Line 3 through official development assistance (ODA) loans. The extension (also known as Ha Noi Railway Station–Hoang Mai Section) will span 8.79 km (including 8.13 km underground). The project involves an investment of over USD1.6 billion (VND40.5 trillion).
