BDO Unibank has secured a win as the Best Bank for ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) at the Awards for Excellence in the Philippines. BDO has been a leader in sustainable finance in the country since 2010, financing projects that contribute to environmental and social well-being.
In 2023, BDO financed PHP898 billion in sustainable projects. This includes 59 large-scale renewable energy projects, adding over 2,300 MW of installed capacity—equivalent to roughly 25 per cent of the Philippines’ total renewable energy (RE) capacity. These initiatives help offset 4.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. Additionally, loans for energy efficiency projects made up 46 per cent of BDO’s green finance portfolio.
