The Government of Indonesia has announced plans to enhance its wind power capacity by 5 GW by 2030. This target is part of its broader Electricity Supply Business Plan for 2025-2035 and the National Electricity Master Plan, both designed to promote renewable energy sources. The country has a total wind power potential of 154.6 GW, with 60.4 GW onshore and 94.2 GW offshore, located in the eastern regions of Maluku, Papua, and Nusa Tenggara.
As of 2024, Indonesia has only utilised 152.3 MW of wind power, which is a small fraction of its available capacity. The government’s long-term vision is to increase installed wind power capacity to 37 GW by 2060.
