Solo Citra Metro Plasma Power (SCMPP) plans to develop a waste-to-energy plant in Surakarta which can convert 450 tonnes of waste per day into 12 MW of electricity per hour. The plant, called PLTSa, will be constructed on the Putri Cempo landfill in Mohosongo and is expected to be completed in 2019. The project is run by a consortium comprising a number of companies, including SCMPP and state-owned Pembangunan Perumahan. The consortium will collaborate with Austrian gas engine manufacturer GE Janbacher to build the plant, which will use plasma gasification technology to convert waste into energy. PLN will buy the electricity produced by PLTSa Putri Cempo for $18.77 per kWh.
