The Government of Indonesia has approved the revised development plan for the Abadi liquefied natural gas (LNG) project by Japan-based INPEX in the Masela Block. The project will be the first in which carbon capture and storage (CCS) related costs are eligible for recovery based on the production-sharing contract in the country.

Production is scheduled to commence by the end of 2029 and once operational, is expected to have an annual production capacity of 9.5 million tonnes.
