The Government of Malaysia has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Singapore to develop a Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). The project will aim to improve the cross-border flows of passengers and cargo as well as strengthen the business ecosystem within JS-SEZ.
The governments are also working on several other initiatives including a one-stop business/investment service centre in Johor to facilitate the application processes for businesses to set up in Johor, adoption and implementation of a passport-free QR code clearance system and of digitised processes for cargo clearance at the land checkpoints in both the countries.
