The Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) has announced plans to upgrade 10 streets across the island by 2026 to enhance walking and cycling, focusing on accessibility for seniors and young children. The initiative, which began in 2023 with five pilot streets, will see construction start in 2025 and finish by 2026.

The streets will feature pedestrian-friendly enhancements, including lower speed limits, barrier-free crossings, and wider footpaths. The project aims to make at least one Friendly Street in every town by 2030. Positive feedback from residents has already been received, with most reporting improved walking and cycling experiences.
