The Government of Vietnam has announced a USD67.34 billion high-speed railway (HSR) project connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. 

The HSR will span 1,541 km, trains will reach speeds up to 350 km/hr, significantly reducing travel time. The project will be funded by the national budget without foreign loans, and construction is set to begin in 2028, with completion targeted by 2035. It includes depots for both passenger and freight trains and aims to integrate with China’s rail network, boosting regional connectivity, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.
