The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is seeking private sector funding for three major railway projects in the Philippines. The three railway projects are the Philippine National Railways (PNR) South Long Haul Project connecting Metro Manila, Batangas, Bicol, and Matnog in Sorsogon; the Subic-Clark Railway project; and the Mindanao Railway Project Phase 1 connecting Tagum, Davao, and Digos.
These projects were initially meant to be financed by the Government of China’s official development assistance (ODA), however, loan agreements failed to be finalised.
