The Department of Transportation (DOTr) of the Philippines and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) have announced multiple projects worth PHP74.6 million at the Zamboanga International Airport (ZIA). The projects announced include the expansion and improvement of the airport’s passenger terminal building and the construction of the Malasakit Hall and the Gender and Development (GAD) multi-purpose hall. The projects also include runway repairs and asphalt overlays, as well as runway strip grading for safer and smoother aircraft landings.

The proposed airport development projects are projected to improve air connectivity and mobility while also stimulating economic development, tourism, trade, and employment opportunities throughout Mindanao.
