The Department of Energy (DOE) has approved 16 new power projects for system impact studies conducted by the National Grid Corporation of Philippines (NGCP).

The projects cover two natural gas projects in Bataan, including Excellent Energy Resources Incorporated’s proposed 875 MW combined cycle power plant in Limay and Mariveles Power Incorporated’s 1,200 MW natural gas project in Bataan. DOE has also approved the 600 MW San Miguel Bay offshore wind power in Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur, the 600 MW Aparri Bay offshore wind in Aparri, the 600 MW Guimaras Straight wind power project in offshore Negros Occidental and Iloilo and the 450 MW Frontera Bay Offshore wind power in Cavite. Gigawind1 Incorporated’s 200 MW Zambales South wind project and Cleantech Global Renewables Incorporated’s 100 MW Kalayaan 2 wind project were also approved for grid effect studies.

PV Sinag Power Incorporated’s 98.14 MW Laoag solar power in Pangasinan, Raslag Corporation’s 18 MW Raslag III solar power in Pampanga, GM Energy Construction Philippines Incorporated’s 110.7-MW Lal-lo solar power project in Cagayan province and Jobin SQM Incorporated’s 100 MW Subic power in Bataan were among the solar projects approved. DOE also authorised Nortesol IV Incorporated’s 250-MW Taguig solar project and Nortesol Incorporated’s 250 MW San Pedro solar project in Laguna de Bay and Taguig City to conduct grid impact studies.

Studies have also been approved for two battery energy development projects, including SN Aboitiz Power Benguet Snap Incorporated’s 20-MW Ambuklao energy storage in Benguet and the King Energy Generation Incorporated’s 20-MW battery storage system in Bukidnon.
