The Provincial Government of Iloilo City in the Philippines is sourcing around one-third of its daily 200 kW energy needs from solar energy. The transition has helped cut energy costs in the city. Furthermore, the local government plans to participate in the net metering program with More Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) to manage excess energy, particularly on weekends.
Moreover, the city has also recently completed the installation of 134 solar panels which are set to commence operations soon. This initiative is projected to save the city government around PHP96,000 monthly, in addition to the benefits from the net metering program. Solar power will also be implemented at the legislative building after the project’s completion.
