The Philippines’ Department of Energy (DOE) has announced that at least 13 power transmission projects in the Western Visayas, being developed by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), have been delayed due to right-of-way (ROW) and permit issues.
One of the key ongoing projects, which has faced multiple delays is the 230 kV Cebu–Negros–Panay (CNP) interconnection project. The project involves the construction of 238 km of transmission lines and includes the expansion of the Barotac Viejo substation, Enrique B. Magalona (EB Magalona) cable terminal station (CTS), and the Bacolod substation. The project will take around 450 days to complete the construction of one of the substations under the project. Construction is yet to start due to ROW issues with some landowners.
