The Philippines Department of Energy endorsed 137 power generation and storage projects totalling 17.8 GW for system impact studies during the first half of 2026. Battery energy storage systems accounted for 85 projects, alongside 18 wind projects, 16 solar-plus-storage projects and eight hydropower projects. The system impact studies assess whether the transmission network can accommodate new connections and identify required upgrades to transmission lines, transformers and substations.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines highlighted the need to align generation and transmission development to avoid stranded capacity. System impact study endorsements do not guarantee project completion, with financing, permitting and grid connection challenges continuing to affect project timelines. The pipeline also includes six fossil-fuel projects, comprising three coal, two diesel and one natural gas facility.
