The Government of Vietnam, through Vietnam National Industry – Energy Group (Petrovietnam), has signed a joint development agreement (JDA) with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) to develop the country’s first offshore wind project in the south-central region. The project is in the early development phase and subject to regulatory approvals.

The initiative is expected to support Vietnam’s energy security, diversify the national energy mix, and accelerate the green transition. It will also create opportunities for developing a domestic clean energy supply chain. The project builds on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in March 2024 and leverages CIP’s offshore wind experience alongside Petrovietnam’s offshore operational expertise.

Since 2024, both organisations have been coordinating working teams to share technical knowledge and identify opportunities for joint projects.
