Petronas has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Baker Hughes to collaborate on initiatives aimed at supporting Asia-Pacific’s energy transition and expansion. The agreement focuses on leveraging the companies’ combined technologies across exploration, LNG services, digitalisation—including AI—and carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS).

As part of the partnership, Baker Hughes will expand its gas technology services facility in Malaysia. The upgrade includes a full aeroderivative gas turbine module repair unit with capabilities for disassembly, assembly, grinding, and testing. This aims to improve service turnaround times and reliability across the region, supported by over 600 installed gas turbines.

Both companies emphasised the importance of strengthening local supply chains and fostering innovation. The collaboration builds on a 50-year relationship that has included LNG development and upstream projects. Petronas sees the partnership as a key move toward enhancing decarbonisation, project delivery, and technology adoption.
