Pekat Group Bhd (Pekat) has secured a RM18.1 million contract to install a photovoltaic (PV) system for Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd’s (IWK’s) wastewater treatment plants across Malaysia. MFP Solar Sdn Bhd awarded the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) contract to the Pekat Solar Sdn Bhd (PSSB), Pekat’s wholly-owned subsidiary.

PSSB will be responsible for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of solar systems that are expected to generate approximately 8 GWh of electricity per year at 16 IWK wastewater treatment plants in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Penang. The project is set to begin in September 2021 and will be completed in March 2022. On the completion of the project, IWK is expected to lower its carbon footprint by about 6,000 tonnes annually.
