Singapore’s Pavillion Energy has signed a 10-year agreement with Total Marine Fuels Global Solutions, a subsidiary of French oil major Total SA, to develop LNG bunker supply facilities in the port of Singapore. The cooperation includes the shared long-term use of the newly built 12,000 cubic metre GTT Mark III LNG bunker vessel that will allow each party to supply LNG bunkers to its customers. Pavillion Energy conducted the country’s first commercial ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation in May 2019, with a reload of 2,000 cubic metres of LNG from a small-scale LNG tanker to a heavy-lift commercial vessel. The country aims to position itself as an LNG trading hub for Asia to capitalise on an expected rise in LNG imports in the region, driven by depleting gas production and growing electricity demand.
