Thai Smile Bus, a public transport operator, has announced plans to double its electric bus fleet in Bangkok. During 2023, the operator will add 1,850 new e-buses as well as increase its coverage to 122 routes. As of March 2023, Thai Smile Bus owns 1,250 electric buses which operate on 71 routes in Bangkok.
This fleet expansion is supported by the Ministry of Transport’s (MoT) reform of bus routes, under which private operators are allowed to operate EVs on 77 new routes in the greater Bangkok metropolitan area.
