The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has completed the installation of a new 300 MVA Xian transformer that replaced the ageing 100 MVA Hyundai transformer at its substation in Batangas. Originally scheduled to be commissioned in December 2013, NGCP fast-tracked the project in light of the upcoming increase in the power requirements of the province. Based on NGCP’s 2012 Transmission Development Plan, the company expects the number of its customers in Batangas to grow by 2 per cent annually over the next five years. NGCP is also set to add another 300 MVA transformer at the same substation before the year ends.
