The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has completed a 230 kV switchyard at its substation in Laoag City in Ilocos Norte. Built on an area spanning 3.5 hectares, the substation is part of NGCP’s San Esteban–Laoag 230 kV Transmission Project 2, which involves the construction of 210 ckt. km of transmission lines from San Esteban to Laoag and the expansion and upgradation of two major substations in San Esteban and Laoag.
