Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has awarded a contract to Alstom Transport Systems (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and a joint venture (JV) comprising IJM Construction Sdn Bhd (IJMC) and Pestech Technology Sdn Bhd to complete the KLIA Aerotrain Replacement Project.
Under the new agreement, Alstom will take charge as the project coordination lead, overseeing the project’s resumption. The three new trains will be delivered by Q1 2025. The partnership with the IJMC-Pestech JV will deliver civil engineering works and train power supply.
The project cost has also increased by 15 per cent from the initial estimates to RM456.1 million. The new cost does not entail operation and maintenance (O&M) costs.
MAHB terminated the contract with Alstom and Pestech for the train replacement project in August 2023.
