Net1 Indonesia has started deploying long term evolution (LTE) services in the 450 MHz spectrum band in line with the government’s drive to boost rural broadband access in the country. Currently, only 73 per cent of villages have access to 3G services and only 55 per cent to 4G. According to the company, the Net1 4G LTE network can reach up to 100 km from a base transceiver station (BTS) and is suitable for Indonesia which has over 16,000 islands. Till date, Net1 has rolled out 4G LTE services across 19 provinces, reaching out to about 50 per cent of the population, and is now collaborating with several local government agencies at the district and provincial levels to extend its services further.
