Philippines’ Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced that the Pangil Bay Bridge in Northern Mindanao is scheduled to open to passenger traffic in 2023. Work on the 3.17-km-long bridge is currently 61 per cent complete.

The bridge project costs more than PHP7 billion and will connect Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte, making it the longest sea-crossing bridge in the Philippines. Once operational, the bridge will reduce travel time from Tangub City to Tubod from the current 2.5 hours to seven minutes

The project is partly financed by the Export-Import Bank of Korea-Economic Development Cooperation Fund (KEXIM-EDCF) as well as the Government of the Philippines.
