Microsoft has committed USD1.7 billion to develop cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Indonesia. The investment is intended to strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure and capabilities, including technology and knowledge transfer, digital skills development and support for domestic technology companies.

The investment forms part of Microsoft’s continued expansion of its cloud infrastructure in Indonesia, following the launch of its Indonesia Central Azure region in 2025. The Indonesian government is also preparing a national AI governance framework covering an AI roadmap and ethics, alongside measures related to cybersecurity and responsible technology development.
