Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGEN), led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, has secured six international awards recognising its growing renewable energy portfolio in the Philippines. The honours were received through its subsidiary MGEN Renewable Energy Inc. at the Asian Power Awards, Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards, and IJGlobal ESG Awards, highlighting the company’s role in advancing the country’s energy transition.

At the Asian Power Awards, MGEN Renewables was recognised for the upgraded Baras Solar project in Rizal, which now operates at 80.1 MW. The company also received top honours at the IJGlobal ESG Awards for the PHP200 billion MTerra Solar project in Central Luzon—a 3,500 MW solar facility paired with a 4,500 MWh battery energy storage system. Once fully completed in 2027, MTerra Solar is expected to become the world’s largest integrated solar and battery storage project, supplying clean electricity to around 2.4 million households annually.

Additional awards at the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards recognised the scale, innovation, and community impact of MTerra Solar, while MGEN Renewables also won a sustainability award for its 55 MW BulacanSol solar plant. MGEN stated that these accolades reaffirm its focus on responsible project development, sustainability, and social impact as it works towards achieving 1,500 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, supporting the Philippines’ national renewable energy targets.
