The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will elevate all vulnerable telecommunications towers to prevent equipment from being positioned at ground level in flood-prone locations across the country. This will assure that in case water level rises to 10 feet, tower function will remain intact.
During the December 2021 floods, more than 1,040 telecommunications towers were affected nationwide, of which more than half had been repaired. While some repairs were completed quickly, others took longer because submerged equipment needed to be replaced.
