Meanwhile, MCMC has allocated the 2600 MHz spectrum band to eight companies: Celcom Axiata Berhad, DiGi Telecommunications Sendirian Berhad, Maxis Broadband Sendirian Berhad, Packet One Networks (M) Sendirian Berhad, Puncak Semangat Sendirian Berhad, REDtone Marketing Sendirian Berhad, U Mobile Sendirian Berhad, and YTL Communications Sendirian Berhad. The spectrum band will enable licensees to provide 4G services. MCMC has also stated that it expects service providers to enter into partnerships and sharing agreements so as to utilise larger bandwidths, lower the costs of service roll-out, and offer enhanced 4G experience at affordable prices to consumers. The telecommunications regulator further added that the 4G wholesale MVNO service would also be offered to providers that do not have access to the allocation.
