The Land Public Transport Commission is planning to undertake a study on the viability of developing a new railway line for cargo services in Port Klang, which will likely require an investment of RM 4 billion. The proposed new route will stretch over 100 km to link Serendah with Port Klang, which will help to divert cargo traffic from the main freight line between Rawang and Seremban. The Serendah–Port Klang link is one of two routes that the government is planning to implement under the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad’s freight relief line plan to divert cargo trains from Kuala Lumpur to Port Klang.
