Maybank Cambodia has extended a USD50 million financing facility to Smart Axiata to support the expansion of digital and 5G infrastructure in Cambodia.
The funding will accelerate investments in next-generation connectivity, enabling broader access to digital services such as online education, financial platforms, and enterprise ICT solutions. It is also expected to help businesses, particularly SMEs, adopt digital technologies, improve productivity, and expand market reach.
The initiative aligns with Cambodia’s Digital Economy and Society Policy Framework 2021–2035 and supports Maybank’s broader sustainability and new economy financing goals. Smart Axiata will use the funding to enhance network coverage and deliver more reliable, future-ready connectivity nationwide.
The partnership highlights growing collaboration between financial institutions and telecom operators to strengthen digital infrastructure, attract investment, and support inclusive economic development across Cambodia and the wider ASEAN region.
