To boost water supply services, the Mandalay government has allocated more than MMK 280 million ($213,000) to the region. The regional government is trying to ensure uninterrupted water supply to its residents to prevent shortage of potable water during the coming summer season. It is expected that more than 140 water supply operations will be carried out in 22 townships of the region. These include digging, construction of pumping wells, small water wells, lake rehabilitation and reconstruction, upgrading of water pipes and construction of rainwater harvesting lakes.
