The Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB) of Malaysia has allocated RM1.2 billion for rural development projects, including road construction, electricity infrastructure and water supply systems in Sabah for 2021. For 2021, the construction of village roads in Sabah is expected to cost around RM150 million. KPLB will also focus on the development of solar energy systems in areas that is poorly connected or off-grid.
Some KPLB projects have been delayed up to five months as construction works were halted in Malaysia due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the movement control order (MCO) period.
