Gamuda Land Vietnam, a subsidiary of Malaysia-based Gamuda Bhd, has submitted a proposal to the Ho Chi Minh City authorities for a new metro line connecting Thu Thiem in HCMC to the upcoming Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province in Vietnam. The proposed line would span 41.83 km, with an additional 4.4 km of approach tracks, and include 20 stations—16 elevated and 4 underground. It is designed for speeds of up to 120 km/hr and would require an estimated investment of USD3.4 billion under the public investment model.

The project aims to improve interprovincial connectivity, ease congestion, and support sustainable transit expansion as Long Thanh Airport nears completion by the end of 2025. Gamuda Bhd has executed over 40 major infrastructure projects across six countries and developed notable real estate ventures in Vietnam since 2007. Its current development near Long Thanh—Springville spans over 18 hectares.

The metro plan builds on Gamuda’s experience in Malaysia, including its role in the Putrajaya and Kajang MRT lines. The proposal reinforces Vietnam’s effort to strengthen urban mobility, especially as HCMC continues to expand its rail network to accommodate economic growth and regional access.
