Malaysia’s East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, led by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), has installed its first Communication, Information, and Signalling (CIS) systems at Kota SAS Station in Pahang. The installation marks the beginning of systems deployment across all 20 ECRL stations, spanning from Kota Bharu to Port Klang.

The CIS systems are critical for train protection, traffic management, and passenger information, and are described as the “nervous system” of the railway. The First-Article Assessment at Kota SAS will serve as the benchmark for construction feasibility and quality standards across the network.

The ECRL aims to enhance connectivity between Malaysia’s less-developed east coast and its economic centre on the west, supporting balanced regional development. The project is committed to international standards of interoperability and operational safety.
