Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has handed over six Thomson-East Coast Line Stage 2 (TEL2) stations to Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT), a subsidiary of the state investment firm Temasek. The transferred stations include Mayflower, Upper Thomson, Springleaf,  Caldecott, Lentor and Bright Hill. TEL2 will begin service in the third quarter of 2021.

The engineering and construction work for the stations has been completed and structural, electrical and mechanical works are currently in progress. TEL2 train and system evaluation and commissioning has been completed, including tests to ensure that the new stations work seamlessly with the three TEL1 stations, including Woodlands, Woodlands North and South. SMRT will now conduct trials to authenticate the functional readiness of TEL2 systems.
