Laos plans to commission 10 more hydropower plants (HPPs) in 2015 in order to meet the increasing demand for electricity in the Southeast Asian region. Currently, there are 29 operational HPPs in the country generating over 3,200 MW of electricity per year, for both domestic use as well as export purposes.
